2017 is right around the corner. And with a new year comes those all too familiar New Year’s Resolutions. Personally, I’ve never been big on making New Year’s Resolutions; my focus has always been on making the new year better than the one before. Honestly, 2016 was a real trial for me, but I survived. Now that I’m on the other end of it, headed into 2017, I feel invincible. For me, 2017 feels like the year to dream big and work hard as hell to make those big dreams come true. In 2017 and beyond, don’t be afraid to dream big. It’s time out for playing small. With that in mind, here are my five observations on dreaming big:
1. You Deserve It
Part of dreaming big is believing that you deserve to see those big dreams come true. Many times we’re afraid to dream big because, somewhere deep down inside, we feel we’re not worthy of realizing those dreams. Newsflash: You deserve to realize all of your dreams, no matter how big, if you’re willing to work for them.
2. You Are Good Enough
Sometimes we fall into the rut of thinking that good things happen to others, but never us. Somehow we feel like we’re not good enough to to have good things happen to us. Well, I’m here to tell you that you are good enough and you deserve to have good things happen to you too.
3. Dreams Don’t Work Unless You Do
While it’s great to dream big, a dream is just a dream if you don’t do the work to make that dreams come true. You know the saying – dream big, work hard. The bigger the dream, the harder you better expect to work to make it happen.
4. Stay Away From Small Minded People
One of the most important things you can do is protect your dreams from small minded people. This might sound harsh, but it’s true – mediocre minds can’t understand greatness. Don’t share your big dreams with small minded people – the only thing they’ll manage to do is fill you with doubt. Avoid them at all costs.
5. Big Dreams Require Big Commitment
The bigger the dream, the more commitment and time it will require to accomplish your dream. We live in a generation where everyone wants everything now and aren’t willing to be patient and work hard to accomplish their dreams. Don’t fall into that trap. If you have a big dream, you have to commit to doing the hard work it will take to make that big dream come true, no matter how long it takes.
