“The sky’s the limit.” It’s a phrase we hear all the time; so much so it’s become cliche. We all have dreams and goals we want to accomplish, so what’s stopping you? The answer, I’ve found for me at least, is usually one of three things: fear, insecurities and/or excuses. I’d dreamed of starting my own t-shirt company for almost eight or nine years before I actually did it. What took me so long – fear, insecurities and excuses: I’ve never designed t-shirts before, I don’t have the money, I don’t know what I’m doing, what if nobody likes my products, what if I make a mistake….(insert sad violin music). After a swift kick in the butt by my business coach/friend Tasha Robinson, I finally did it. And you know what? It’s been the most challenging yet rewarding process I’ve ever experienced. In short, it’s grown me. Starting DSR Apparel has taught me patience, resilience, tenacity and fearlessness, to name few. Once I put aside my fears, insecurities and excuses, not only was I able to fly, I was able to soar. What I gained by facing my fears and insecurities far outweigh any negatives I’ve faced in the process (and I’m not going to sugar coat it – there have been plenty). DSR Apparel is nowhere near where I want it to be or where I see it 10 years from now, but I’m a lot closer to those goals and dreams because I got started. The only way to get anywhere is to get started. No one can stop you, but you. What are your goals? What are your dreams? So what’s stopping you?
